Credit Protection Companies: A Rip Off Or The True Thing?

By Matthew Stanton

As the cases of identity theft increases each passing day, measures have been made to ensure the safety of ones identity and credibility. One of the most common cases of these kinds of thefts is through ones credit card. To ensure that the information in ones credit card is perfectly kept safe, most people would employ the assistance of a credit protection agency. These agencies, by their name itself, are aimed at guaranteeing their clients of the safekeeping of their credit information.

And as the rate of stolen credit card information escalates, the establishments of credit protection agencies also increase in number. With this, one would definitely speculate over the efficiency, and reliability of such agencies. Are they true to their word? Or are they just another form of bandits, slowly getting hold of our money with little effort in their part?

Most people who seek the help of credit protection agencies would ascertain that they are credible by basing on flashy advertisements on print, television, radio, and on the Net. But flashy presentations are never a reliable source of a companys credibility.

I once searched for these agencies and found, to my disgust, that most used flamboyant words and colorful art and designs. I believe that these were made to attract potential clients. A true, reliable, and credible agency or company offering this service should not do such. Or if they should do so, they would need to be able to rely to their potential clients vital information.

This vital information is such that they are able to explain thoroughly and clearly to the public what kind of company or agency they are. They should also be able to put in plain words the knowledge and facts about how and why credit card information is being stolen. They should also be able to give out a list of affiliated partners, legitimate of course, that usually handle the work. It is also an added bonus if one can find out if they are ISO accredited.

ISO accredited companies are completely reliable, and in such case can handle credit protection well. Trusted services for this type of protection also act immediately after they have detected a potential threat in your account, and will immediately inform you and to credit bureaus for the immediate freezing of your account. As far as I have researched, only a very few companies who handle these types of services are deemed reliable and credible by the previous standards given.

With the advancement of technology nowadays, despite its benefits it can bring to secure personal information, it also allows hackers and other criminals a faster access to personal data that anyone can never know strangers are using them despicably.

Before anyone may need the held of protection services offered by certain companies or agencies, credit protection should first start at the individual level. As much as possible, transactions and related documentations should always and carefully be monitored. One should ask for a regular report of their credit to do this.

The needed protection is also ensured if one does not give out any personal data to strangers over the phone or on the street. Then, if nothing else would satisfy one, it could then be obtained through the services of companies who offer such. One must always keep in mind that before they tread deep water, they have to carefully wade through the shallow depths. One never knows what the deep waters may have.
